DNR and UW-Madison Seek Farmer Input on Proposed Changes to Nitrogen Regulations

Attention Wisconsin Dairy Producers,

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is working with the College of Agricultural & Life Sciences (CALS) at UW-Madison on assessing the impacts of the new nitrogen restrictions being proposed for NR151. These performance standards, regulating the amount and the timing of both manure and commercial fertilizer applications, are intended to reduce nitrate concentrations in groundwater.

In an attempt to better understand the perspective of farmers, they will be conducting "Farmer Focus Groups" this winter to receive input and feedback on the proposed standards.

Anyone who currently operates a farm in Wisconsin is eligible to participate. Focus groups will be held virtually and will take place during the end of January and beginning of February 2021.

Your input is invaluable, and It is critical that your perspective is heard. Please click the link below to learn more about this initiative and sign up today!
